THE VINEYARD

Old vineyards, precise aging and a perfect balance

Tresmano owns a total vineyard area of only 65 hectares and collaborates closely with local producers in small batches. Vineyards are dry-farmed following the traditional goblet-trained system; the plant density is 2000 to 3000 vines per hectare to ensure every vine receives the utmost attention and care allowing the grape to reach its full potential. The commitment to quality over quantity is obvious according to the low average yield of about 20 hectolitres per hectare, the lowest in the region.

Sustainability is another key element of Tresmano’s winemaking approach. The winery uses a range of environmentally friendly techniques—organic farming in most of the vineyards, manual harvest, gravity-led reception of grapes, thermal insulation, and natural ventilation. These practices not only minimize the winery’s environmental impact but also contribute to the preservation of the inherent characteristics of the variety and the overall integrity during the winemaking process. Thus, since 2023, Tresmano‘s winery and vineyards have been certified by the Regulatory Council for Farming and Production of Organic Wines.

Ninety percent of our barrels are made with French oak from different coopers, and the rest ten percent are made with other European oak species. The barrel ageing time always depends on the wine; however, even though great wood is a tool to make exceptional wine, it is not everything—Tresmano‘s character is above cooperage or toasting level.

The crucial steps lie in having intuition and success in emptying the barrels and bottling the wine at the right moment—when fruit, time, and wood have reached that balance and merged themselves into an exceptional wine within the bottle. We achieved that point by having over 70 harvests of experience.

RIBERA DEL DUERO

The Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero region

Not very far from our winery, but on the other side of the river, in the Montes de Pesquera, our vineyards are planted in much more limy soil.

Tr3smano’s priority is to produce only grapes of great quality and optimal maturity.

That’s why it is essential to control every process, from winter pruning to deciding when to harvest.

Sometimes, it is also necessary to make risky decisions.

This is the only way to obtain the quality needed to make unique wines.
